![]() ![]() "If you should see this page every 2 minutes, make sure your firewall allows ICMP requests (I don't know if this is the right translation of the word) from the IP address (and then it shows an IP adress)." The log-in page also says something like: There I enter my log-in information (username, pw) and then I can use the internet without problems and without disconnections. In order for me to get online, when I start up my PC I have to type in a specific adress into my browser for a log-in page to appear. I could install a router, but since I do not need one I just connected my PC directly into the socket via an ethernet cable. Here I do not have a router, but a socket in the wall for an ethernet cable. I think I have an idea where this problem stems from, but I have to explain my situation to you: This not just happens with Mullvad, but also with a VPN I set up to access university remotely some time ago. Then my internet connection is also completely gone. Generally, once I find a port that resumes working, OpenVPN vs Wireguard doesn't seem to be the deciding factor - WireGuard just seems faster, which I'd expect from that protocol.I just got Mullvad today and I'm having the problem that it disconnects like every 5 minutes or so. ![]() I've also tried switching between OpenVPN and WireGuard (I prefer WireGuard), but that doesn't seem to make a huge difference. ![]() It's been that way for about 3-4 weeks now, and I didn't have this problem before then. ![]() I typically have to just try cycling through different ports (I tend to stick to UDP because I'm under the impression it's faster than TCP), at least twice a day. This makes me think the issue is specifically occurring on macOS, and is not a network restriction from my location. I mention this because the computers are on the same network and don't experience these problems at the same time, even when connected to the same IVPN server, over the same port and protocol. I run the client on a Windows desktop on the same network, and don't find myself having to change the port or protocol (as u/ivpnmod9 suggested) the way I have to so frequently on macOS. I've noticed this as well, exclusively on the macOS client. If you prefer not to reveal details on Reddit, please send a message to support at ivpn dot net or submit a ticket via the Client Area on the website: UPDATE : The number of reports of constant reconnecting on macOS 10.5 Catalina with the IVPN App v2.12.1+ is increasing, though only some systems are affected.Ĭould everyone affected by this issue please provide explicit and detailed hardware specifications for your macOS computer systems, like the model, year, screen size, Touch Bar?, CPU, etc.? This might give the development team a better idea of why this happens on some systems and not others. Here is an article with details for all the popular platforms: Fortunately, the IVPN App makes this tuning easy. Tuning the connection offers a way to bypass the restriction. No issues have been reported with our US west coast servers, so it seems like there could be a new network restriction between your location and our servers. ![]()
